Garden seed

Placeholder content for the prototype. This note is a little meta: it describes the machine you are currently standing inside.

A garden needs tools that make linking cheap and finding fast, or it decays into a folder of orphaned files. Three features do most of the work.

Every note shows who links to it. Write a link from thinking in public to this note, and this note grows a backlink pointing home, automatically. Links become two way without any extra effort, which is what turns a pile of notes into a web.

The graph

The same links, drawn. The graph view is a map of the garden where density means attention: the more a note is linked, the more central it sits. It is a way to see which ideas are load bearing.

Fast local search over every published note, and [[wiki-links]] that resolve by name so writing a link is as cheap as typing a title. Cheap links are the whole game; if linking is expensive, nobody does it, and the garden never forms.

The publish gate

The most important tool is the one that decides what exists here at all. Publishing is explicit: a note is only built if its frontmatter says publish: true. The default is private. That is what makes it safe to keep the messy, real vault separate from this public one. It closes the loop opened in thinking in public and keeps the garden intentional.
